Natsumi Takanko is the Protagonist from The Ocean is Calling. She had a big crush on her classmate, Nakatani, and she had good friends.

Natsumi has long, light-colored hair and curved, feminine eyes. She was seen in her school uniform an a feminine, casual outfit.
Personality[]
Natsumi is a playful, friendly young girl who valued her relationships with her friends. Usually she got picked on by a male classmate who would say she isn't really much of a girl, which could hint some tomboyish tendencies. She also got scolded by her Teacher a lot.
History[]
Natsumi was very confused as she began noticing how kind everyone was to her, compared to usual. Her friends assured her everything was fine, and they convinced Natsumi to use the upcoming sea trip to confess to her popular classmate and long-time crush, Nakatani. Natsumi agreed and he seemed awkwardly receptive, but when they returned home he became cold and distant, asking her to leave him alone. He was very vague about what she could have done to upset him, but her friends tried assuring her that she didn't do anything wrong.
For a short while, her classmates seem to suddenly have become really quiet around her. She tried to tease Nakatani to get him to speak to her again during break, and when he reacted coldly, her friends scolded him for being so cruel. Natsumi wanted to follow after him but they convinced her not to bother, he'd probably just ignore her again. In this time she began to think something was off, and for a moment she felt as if she was being drowned beneath the sea surface. Her friends were concerned but she calmed them down, going on to notice how tightly her friend was gripping her wrist. She confronts Nakatani when he returns to the classroom realizing he forgot something, but when the others show up to see her, he quickly grabs her hand and led her away, to a bus that would take them back to the sea. They chased after them in a panic and upon arrival, Nakatani led her to the light house.
Instantly, anxiety grips Natsumi and she begins to believe that she died during the trip to the sea, which explains why she felt as thought she was under water. Nakatani confirms her grief as she tries feverishly to deny it, asking him if this was why everyone was so nice, to keep her from noticing. Nakatani pleadingly explains to her how he was forcing himself to be mean for her sake, but she has to leave from here. She can't just stay in this place she isn't meant to be. Natsumi tries reasoning with him but she finds herself forced to leave, as he embraces her and her friends approach, begging Natsumi not to go. She falls from the ledge of the cliff they were on after he lets her go.
Natsumi wakes up in the hospital with her parents, who quickly explain what happened. She was in a coma and they didn't know if she would recover, the bus she was riding on had crashed and everyone else had gone missing. Realizing that Nakatani saved her and how she's lost everyone, Natsumi cries while holding the small shell in a bottle that Nakatani gave her, just as she had for him.
When she recovers, Natsumi heads back to the sea side and on the edge of the cliff where the lighthouse resides, she throws some flowers into the ocean for everyone. She is now wearing the seashell bottle charm on her neck. As her dad calls her to leave, she turns and for a moment, sees Nakatani's spirit holding the one she gave him. He vanishes and in that moment, she decides that she will let the incident go now and move on.
