The Money Tree is the Antagonist in the 19th period of the series. Its a species of tree that starts out tiny and grows the more nutrients it gains.

Appearance[]
The money tree is a small potted bonsai reminiscent of an old, withered tree. On it is an etched face. Dollar bills sprout from the tips of its branches. Over the story it is shown growing into a full and healthy tree.
Personality[]
As a plant the tree doesn't have the capabilities to speak. However it does appear to emote, coming off as empathetic initially, before revealing its true nature.
History[]
The tree was revealed to have been owned by Julie, kept in a vault within the family home. It later showed up at Akane's, which had been found by her when Julie suddenly called to ask if she had seen it. Akane decided to hang onto the tree, where she shortly revealed it to her parents after testing out the money.
Eventually she comes home to find the tree has now been planted in the ground in her backyard. She assumes it was her dads doing and left. It continued to grow as time passed, and as Akane begged for her parents return, she realized the tree's true nature as it grabbed onto her and forced her underground to feed on her nutrients. Her corpse and several others are sucked dry as the years pass and new families move onto her property.
